(More customer reviews)It's surprisingly good. Tastes like dried apples with a little raisin thrown in - I didn't really notice the veggie part. It smells pretty weird, and whenever I eat it around my friends, I get funny looks and wrinked noses, but the smell doesn't affect the taste at all! Though you don't want to replace actual fresh fruit and vegetables with this bar, I do think it's better than not having them at all, and I try to keep one in my bag for the really long days. I definitely prefer eating this to vending machine snacks or yet another fast food meal (the only choices near my school).

(More customer reviews)What makes Juvo stand out from the others in my experience is that it is not too sweet. I put cinnamon in it which makes it taste even better. The only reason that I don't give it five stars is that it doesn't "stick" like the other higher protein raw meals. It only satiates me for 2-3 hours versus 3-4 with the others. However, it is really good when I'm in the mood for a carbohydrate breakfast or late night snack.

(More customer reviews)i love these bars! the combination of fruit and nuts is so delicate it provides a wonderful texture/tasting experience. the crunch of the sprinkled nuts is just right. the texture and moisture content of the fruit is just right. my dogs love them also! if you want a really fine snacking experience combine one bite of this bar with one bite of fine cheese. WOW! or one bite of this bar with one bite of fine chocolate. WOW! i haven't had any problems eating these bars from my pack while hiking.
i really appreciate that the fat content of this bar is low.

Over the past few years, I have become very discerning about my nutrition, looking for the right balance of protein/carbs/fat, low processed food, low sugar, high fruits/veg/fiber, etc. This bar is by far the best! When I can't get a meal, this is what I grab.

This must have an incredible amount of iron in it. My hb has been normal since I started using this. I also dont have the unpleasant side affects as I do with iron suppliments. Nutiva Organic Hemp Protein Powder + Fiber, 16-Ounce Jars (Pack of 2) Review

(More customer reviews)the fiber content of this "powder" is amazing but the the taste and texture are almost unbearable. while hemp is not going to taste as good (by good taste-i mean an absence of taste) as soy or whey, it should at least be better than this.
my gripes:
texture- this product should not be called a powder at all. it's more like the contents of a tea bag. the product should be more finely ground.
taste- this hemp has a stronger taste than other brands i have tried. i haven't found anything that really goes well with the "earthy" taste.
the good news:
fiber-i believe one serving provides 54% of the DV. that's 2-4 times as much as other hemp powders. this is why i gave this product 2 stars instead of one.
the good news about all hemp:
it's not highly processed like whey, soy, rice or other protein powders.

it's organic. most hemp powders are organic because hemp is naturally resistant to pests. ever wonder why you never see organic soy protein? hexane. this is the chemical (similar to gasoline) that must be used to isolate the protein from the bean.
it's raw. yay!
other brands:
i have tried nutiva, ruth's and living harvest. i currently use and recommend living harvest. it has the best consistency and taste. ruth's contains slightly more vitamins than living harvest but has a slightly stronger taste. nutiva is by far the worst with the strongest taste, grainiest texture and least vitamins.
i find that the best recipe for a hemp smoothie is just a frozen ripe banana (use one with lot's of brown freckles-it may be a little gooey going into the freezer but as with banana bread, those bananas have the best taste), 2-3 drops of vanilla extract, some soy or almond milk and a scoop of hemp. hemp doesn't really seem to agree with berries or non-creamy fruits.
bottom line-unless fiber is your #1 concern, go with another brand.

But they really do have the best tasting protein bars, so when I saw they were coming out with a low sugar variety I was so excited to try them!! And they taste great and have 14 grams of fiber and 18 grams of protein per serving!! That is seriously just awesome, how often do you find that much protein and fiber in 1 bar???? Never! Plus they have vitamins. So this is my new rush hour breakfast when I'm hurrying out somewhere! I'm ordering more today!

(More customer reviews)I love the taste--and especially the texture--of these bars. They're moist and chewy, but not at all sticky or gooey. The texture is almost like a brownie, dense and chewy. And filling! As good as they are, you're not tempted to eat two, because one is satisfying enough.
The sweetness comes mainly from fruit sugars, but as I don't have a sweet tooth, it was slightly too much for me. However, I'm assuming that most people have a higher tolerance for sweetness than I do, so they'll probably find the level to be just right.
Of all the "healthy" bars I've tried, I have to say this one has the healthiest ingredients. And at only 160 calories with no saturated fat, I feel good about eating it, because it's not just a candy bar in disguise like most bars. My niece is used to there only being "healthy" food at Auntie's house, but I think this time she won't mind!

Those who are not familiar with these types of bars should try a single one before purchasing a case. They are not like candy, although I find them to be quite tasty. They are soft and more like a healthy bread (closest comparison I can find) than a cookie or candy bar. Definitely not like the other "power bar" items you can get.
If you are looking to incorporate more raw food into your diet, this is a good way to do it.

Easy Sprout Sprouter - 1 set,(Frontier) Review

I start almost all* of my seeds in this sprouter, even if they will eventually be growing straight up like wheat grass and alfalfa sprouts. Due to the drainage holes, I can use a garden nozzle to force water through the soaked seeds to give them a thorough rinsing. You cannot do this with jars. I can start 1 - 2 cup of alfalfa seeds or any seeds that will eventually grow to the green stage and let them sprout a couple days before I transfer to individual pint sprouting containers. Garbanzos or other seeds that tend to get moldy with other methods can be sprouted with success. Again this is because you can force water through for a thorough rinse.
If you only want a quart of alfalfa sprouts, you better only use a teaspoon of seeds. With practice you can remove the hulls, too, for beautiful full grown sprouts.
*Only gelatinous seeds like chia and cress and very tiny seeds like teff require a different sprouting method.
