(More customer reviews)First, I find it incredibly silly to judge a nutritional product (and call it "poor") solely based on what it tastes like. Second, I personally feel, and so do those I know who've tried it, Vega is probably one of the best tasting shakes out there (and it can simply be mixed with water, by the way, for those of you who are like me and hate milk AND milk substitutes).
As for what truly matters: the quality of the shake. Vega is hands down the best of its kind on the Vegan/Vegetarian market. This isn't just a shake thrown together by marketers, this was based on years of research and development by Brendan Brazier, a true vegan athlete. It is the perfect combination of protein, fiber, vitamins, nutrients, and even some herbs. The protein itself is an amazing and hard (or impossible?) to find combination of hemp, pea protein, brown rice, and flax. NO soy, either!
I've been taking these shakes for about two months and feel and see a noticeable difference, which is key - in energy level, muscle development, even mental clarity.
As for the cost, sure its a little pricey, but it goes back to the old "you get what you pay for". Think about why taking a supplement is important to you, and then ask yourself if paying slightly more but receiving more benefits are worth making a sacrifice somewhere else. By they way, Vega is so inclusive that it eliminates the need for going to several different supplements, therefore I think the price basically evens out within a budget. Also, I find a half a serving (one scoop) does the trick just fine, so you can stretch out the life of a tub.
Believe me, I've done my research, and there are some good products out there, but this one really is "the best"!

I haven't found the the perfect bar yet, but I have found the perfect meal replacement, it is Vega. Vanilla Chai is my personal favorite because it tastes great mixed with water. Yes, it is pricey. But it is well worth the cost. It takes the place of so many supplements. There is no need for a multivitamin, calcium/magnesium, omega-3, green supplement, or energy supplement. It is all here. Vega has 2.5g of Maca, which is great for hormone balance, endocrine glands, and energy. I have suffered with adrenal problems for years and this product has made more difference than any combination of products I have taken in the past. It contains 2.5g of Chlorella which is a great heavy metal and liver detoxifier. Vega has 15g of fiber which is over half our daily requirements. Finally, and most importantly, it is filling and really does replace a meal. I highly recommend it!

It is the best meal replacement out there, and from the very beginning I could feel the difference in my health. Of course, the taste is far from delicious, but after my initial reaction (gag) I now like it, even crave it in the mornings. (I had to make myself like V8 to, and this is healthier.) The price is a little steep at $55, but it is much better on Amazon then if you bought it form the store ($70+ tax) and it is worth every penny of it. It is full of vitamins, healthy grains and vegan protein. It will fill you up (unlike other green drinks) so you eat less. While it does not claim to be a weight loss product, it actually helped me lose 20 pounds by helping me stop my cravings. Try it, you will not regret it!

(More customer reviews)I like to drink Green Magma daily as a snack between meals with some protein powder (such as Designer Whey or Slim Body Whey); and I like to take extra on days when I ingest salty products (say, deli turkey or something canned or cheese). It's got a pleasant, mild "green" taste (not icky like wheat grass), and it's very quick to mix. It has a nice amount of potassium, and, hey, green goodness.
It's not a magic drink, but if you have days when you don't get your green veggies and maybe overindulge in salt, some green magma (rather sugar-heavy juices) may be helpful. (Coconut water is even better, being higher in Potassium, but that doesn't give you the "green" benefits.)
I do think that the pleasant taste was the most surprising aspect. I totally expected something gross (magma???), but this has a gentle taste that doesn't make one gag. (Wheat grass and some blended green food products definitely are hard for me to get past the gag reflex for me.) And if it's hard for you to ingest your recommended 5 to 9 (or 11, depending on who you read) fruits and veggies a day, this is one aid.
The information on the product says it has these nutrients and benefits: "beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, chlorophyll, catalase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), 2"-O-glycosylisovitexin (2"-O-GIV). 2"-O-GIV is a water- and fat-soluble antioxidant found in Green Magma that effectively inhibits lipid peroxidation as well as the formation of aldehydes and other toxic compounds in vitro produced by free radicals. Green Magma also contains many trace minerals like selenium that have antioxidant actions."
I live in the city and don't have a perfect diet. I also have assorted health issues. So, I take Acai juice and other phytonutrient dense products to help. Green Magma is in my arsenal.
And if it tasted like pure crap, I wouldn't recommend it. It tastes way better than genuine acai berry juice. :)
If you get it, I recommend you get one of those 8 or 12 oz shaker cups with the lid you pop on and off to shake the Green Magma up easily and clean it simply. I find my small shaker cups get used A LOT, between protein powders, berry mixes, green tea extract dilutions, and Green Magma.

(More customer reviews)My doctor recommended I go on a wheat free diet for a time. I also was looking for a cereal with a lot of oat fiber for its anti-cholesterol properties. I was shocked to find it nearly impossible to find a cold, oat cereal that does not have wheat in it.
Amazon's description of this product says it contains whole oats, corn, crispy rice and soy flakes. Well, the chief ingredient of their "soy flakes" is WHEAT GLUTEN!
Yes it tastes good, because it is a pile of sugar.
This cereal has 14 grams of sugar per HALF cup!! That is twice as much as Kellog's Sugar Corn Pops and almost twice as much as their Frosted Flakes!!! Who do you know that only eats 1/2 cup of cereal in a typical meal? Even if you limit yourself to a small bowl of 1 cup of htis stuff you are pouring 28 grams of sugar down your throat.
To me, that means any health benefits from the protein or fiber is completely overwhelmed by the fact it has so much refined sugar that it qualifies as being poisonous!!!!

Gourmet Almond Granola, 1 lb. Review

(More customer reviews)I'm not a fan of granola by any means: at least not until now. I have tried making my own on many occasions but the mess, expense, amount of ingredients to keep on hand and the less than satisfactory results have pretty much turned me off. I purchased this product in 3 flavors as a last ditch effort: Cherry Walnut, Almond and Maple Walnut. They arrived together in 2 days, well packaged, fresh and crunchy. Did I mention FLAVORFUL? I am a true convert. This is the best. While I like all 3, my favorite is the Maple Walnut, followed by the Almond and then Cherry Walnut (mostly because the huge dried cherries taste more like golden raisins than cherries, but still very good. I should also mention that while the dried cherries are about the size of the bowl of a teaspoon and look like they are soft and pliable, they are very hard and take a lot of careful chewing, after which they become sticky. I didn't find that texture pleasant). And when the ingredients listed walnuts or almonds, I figured it would be microscopic smooshed up pieces mixed in so small I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a sesame seed and a piece of walnut or almond. BUT, the almonds are large pieces or whole almonds while the walnuts - well, the walnuts are planet-sized: sometimes 1/2 of an entire walnut and there are tons of them in a single bag of this granola. The maple walnut is the only one I find a bit on the sticky side, but not like caramel popcorn sticky-just a bit tacky. I've already used this in yogurt, cottage cheese, oatmeal, as a snack in mid afternoon, in salads, pancakes and yesterday morning, I made Bisquick biscuits and added some of all 3 flavors as an experiment. The biscuits were marvelous. Now, if I could only remember WHAT I did so I can make them again with the same success! Try this. I don't think you'll be disappointed. If you are, you can send it to me!! :)
